Ixtapa

Ixtapa and Zihuatanejo are twin towns, located only 6.5 kilometers apart. Together, they are complementary parts of the journey along the coast of the southern state of Guerrero. Visit them both to discover their very different personalities. Ixtapa is located 5 km (3 mi) northwest of the municipal seat, Zihuatanejo and 245 km (150 mi) northwest of Acapulco.

Ixtapa has a long history as a coconut plantation. It’s now home to high-quality hotels, resorts, luxury restaurants and first rate stores for shopping fans. On the other hand, Zihuatanejo has a much more bohemian feel. It began as a modest fishing village and is now enjoyed by travelers and backpackers who prefer its small, winding streets, full of galleries and craft shops.
